HISTORY OF THE

ZETA ALPHA CHAPTER OF PHI BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY INCORPORATED

====

At the opening of the 1930-31 academic year, several representatives of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity were present on the campus of Tennessee Agricultural and Industrial State College.  These men formed a group which had as its main objective the establishment of a chapter of their fraternity on this campus.

Brother Dr. Alger V. Boswell became the advisor to this new organization, with Brother Chester A. Owens acting as its president.  Affiliated members incuded Brothers Roger P. Bailey, Theocia O'Homer Carter, Searcy C. Harris, and Walter L. Vickers.

This body met at many times on campus in the months between November 1930 and April 1931, and on May 1, 1931, the Zeta Alpha Chapter of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity was formally established and chartered at Tennessee A&I State College.
